Responsible for overseeing all avionics-related airworthiness tasks within the CAMO. This includes managing avionics systems' continuing airworthiness, ensuring compliance with regulatory, manufacturer requirements, and company requirements, and providing expert technical support for modifications, troubleshooting, reliability monitoring, and maintenance planning.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure the continuing airworthiness of electrical & avionics systems (Electrical generation and distribution, communication, navigation, surveillance, flight instruments, etc.) across the fleet.
- Review and implement applicable Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and OEM recommendations affecting electrical & avionics.
- Propose amendments to AMS, issue Technical Notices, FONs, and other technical documents whenever necessary.
- Monitor the performance and reliability of electrical & avionics systems and recommend corrective actions or program improvements.
- Provide technical support to line and base maintenance teams for troubleshooting avionics issues.
- Evaluate engineering orders, service bulletins, and field service advice relating to electrical & avionics.
- Review and approve electrical / avionics-related maintenance instructions and repair solutions when required.
- Lead avionics-related modification projects including upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with STCs and other applicable design standards.
- Carry out technical investigation and evaluation on systems, abnormal failures and repetitive defects and recommend improvement measures.
- Support the Reliability Program and contribute to root cause analysis for avionics defects and recurring issues.
- Recommend adjustments to maintenance programs based on avionics system performance.
- Ensure all avionics-related airworthiness tasks are performed in accordance with CAA Oman or other applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of avionics configurations, modifications, and compliance status.
- Prepare documentation and responses for audits by regulatory authorities and lessors.
- Liaise with OEMs (e.g., Honeywell, Collins, Thales), avionics vendors, and MROs for technical queries and support.
- Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to ensure efficient technical operations.
- Provide technical support during quality and safety investigations.
- Implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions in response to internal and external audit findings and for investigation recommendations.
- Review all Avionics/Electrical proposals and provide technical expertise input during the customization of all new fleets' prior entry into service.
- Provides technical support for aircraft Lease-in/Lease-out/lease return/delivery projects and provide technical data for operational requirements.
- Lead a team of avionics engineers.
- Propose revisions to company documentation such as CAME, EPMs, and related manuals whenever necessary.
- Allocate resources, assign tasks, and manage priorities for avionics-related activities.
- Contribute to the yearly budget preparation for the department.
- Ensure that the training requirements for the staff are fulfilled as per the regulatory.
- Carry out any other Avionics related task as and when directed by Function Head-Development Engineering or VP-CAMO.
- Perform any other related tasks as assigned by the Management.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical/Electronics engineering (or similar field) with 8 years of relevant experience preferably in aviation Engineering, Maintenance and development Engineering division.
OR Diploma holder in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or similar field) or ICAO Type II license with 10 years of relevant Experience.
- ICAO Type II License OR Aircraft maintenance license or equivalent is desirable.
- Knowledge of regulatory and manufacturers documentations.
- Knowledge of aircraft software configuration management.
Special Requirements:
- AMOS knowledge is desirable
- Type rating course is desirable
