1. Answers, evaluates and prioritizes incoming telephone, e-mail and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking and other computer-related technologies.
2. Installs software such as MS Office, Outlook, anti-virus software and/or related type software for users.
3. Interviews user to collect information about problem and leads user through diagnostic procedures to determine source of error, for simple problems. More complex problems are referred to supervision.
4. Analyzes user problem and finds appropriate solutions for computer related problems.
5. Enters data for helpdesk data management (i.e., incoming requests for service and call history).
6. Assists users in understanding various options and applications within MS Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Assists users in the design of Access databases for use within their departments for various purposes.
7. Answers inquiries regarding status on resolving a computer problem.
8. Guides users in the procedures for applying an application within the software, instructing them where to find a particular application.
9. Coordinates company Intranet site, adding and deleting material as requested by department head or designate.
10. Coordinates with various vendors regarding repairs to RF terminals, and other issues with software or hardware; receives items and prepares documentation to accompany items.
11. Coordinates purchase requisition using AFE&IFS and follows up.
12. Updates daily the vessel schedule on the Internet site.
13. Prepares department reports as needed.
14. Maintains all of the licensing of software, making sure all documentation is completed.
15. Maintains helpdesk filing system, and handles the purchase requisitions for the department.
16. Handles other related duties as requested.
Language Requirements:
Arabic - Fluent / Excellent
English - Very Good
Education: Requires high school diploma and a two year college or vocational certificate or degree in computer science or related discipline.
Experience: Requires two to three years of helpdesk experience in a small to mid-sized private company.
Specialized Knowledge:
a. Must be thoroughly familiar with Windows Operating systems and latest Office software.
b. Must have some understanding of computer programming concepts and knowledge of Intranet set-up and maintenance.
Skills:
c. Must have the ability to solve technical problems of low to medium complexity.
d. Must be multi-task oriented with proven ability to handle several different activities at the same time.
e. Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
f. Due to access to company sensitive information, must be able to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
g. Must be able to anticipate internal client needs and maintain good working relationships with users and management.
h. Requires proficiency in various software applications and programs.
i. Requires ability to communicate in English and Arabic, both verbally and written.
