Principal Production Technologist

Production Technology (PT) determines the conceptual well design, ensures well integrity, optimizes production, and helps manage the well's lifecycle value. Sitting at the intersection of development, wells, and production functions, PT represents production's interests to other disciplines and aspires to be the integrator for delivering wells and production.

You will lead integration efforts between Development, Growth, Well Delivery, Well Engineering, Completion Well Intervention (CWI), Operations, and Projects.

Your responsibilities include:

• Champion and exemplify a strong HSSE culture and performance in SDO.
• Provide technical support for Well Reservoir & Facility Management (WRFM), Well Delivery, Development, Growth, Operations, Projects, and Low Carbon Solutions.
• As the Production Technologist Discipline Lead, ensure the discipline effectively supports development and E&A activities, review current PT capabilities, identify gaps, and develop plans to address them, incorporating these into Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
• Establish global networks within PT and facilitate technology transfer in tight gas development and operations to Shell Development Oman.
• Maintain close links with Shell centers to share workflows, best practices, and stay updated on new technologies.
• Lead technology maturation for Deep Tight Gas field development, focusing on well and reservoir performance, completion, hydraulic fracturing, well life extension, and flow assurance.
• Lead integrated hydraulic fracture reviews to improve and implement learnings, impacting reservoir drainage and further applications in development and E&A campaigns.
• Provide technical input for WRFM well intervention proposals, well activation, and testing proposals.
• Explore and endorse new technologies like Fiber Optic and Optical downhole pressure gauges for real-time hydraulic fracture and well surveillance.
• Lead and contribute to Well Delivery Reviews, After Action Reviews, and promote learnings for implementation.
• Advise on well construction manuals and discipline requirements, including operations, equipment, and material selection.
• Participate actively in WRFM reviews/meetings, seeking opportunities for improvement and ownership.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in your areas of expertise, sharing knowledge within Oman Shell and globally.
• Support WRFM improvement initiatives and processes.
• Lead initiatives to identify gaps and potential opportunities in WRFM, Well Delivery, and CWI.
• Encourage technical publication contributions to disseminate best practices and learnings.
• Support recruitment and provide coaching and mentoring to young professionals.

  What You Bring

  We are looking for professionals with:

  • 15+ years' experience in Production Technology, including WRFM, operations, Well Delivery, and Integrated Studies.
  • Experience in Deep Tight Gas is required.
  • University Degree or higher qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience dealing with sour gas (H2S, CO2), tight gas formations, and high-inclination/horizontal wells.
  • Skills in well modeling (Prosper, GAP) and hydraulic fracture simulations (Stimplan, GOHFER).
  • Experience in WRFM activities, well intervention proposals, and gas well de-liquefaction techniques.
  • Experience in well integrity monitoring, log interpretation, troubleshooting, and strong analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Mastery in Well Inflow and Outflow Enhancement, stimulation, hydraulic fracturing, Well Concept & Completion Design, Well Intervention, Workover, Well Control, and Integrity Management.
  • Being a SME in any of these areas is a major advantage.
  • Proven initiative, positivity, and results delivery in complex projects and challenging environments.
  • Preferred experience with Tight Deep Gas reservoirs and skills in FTHT prediction and equipment stress analysis.
  • Team player, adaptable, and open to diverse viewpoints.
