Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Category Manager / Assistant Category Manager to drive category performance across our hypermarket chain. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, vendor management skills, and a proven track record in retail category planning. This role plays a key part in optimizing assortment, managing pricing strategies, and executing promotional plans to deliver sales growth and profitability

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies to drive sales, margin, and inventory efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing, promotional support, and trading terms.
  • Optimize product assortment based on performance analysis, market trends, and customer needs.
  • Coordinate with marketing to plan, execute, and evaluate promotions across stores and digital platforms.
  • Monitor stock levels, turnover rates, and availability to ensure a consistent in-store presence.
  • Analyze category performance regularly and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Benchmark competitor offerings, prices, and promotions to ensure category competitiveness.
  • Ensure accurate product setup, pricing, and promotional details are updated in all systems.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, finance, and store operations for smooth category execution and vendor claims
  • Track vendor performance and ensure compliance with internal standards and agreements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Must be based in Oman
  • Oman retail experience is essential; GCC experience is preferred
  • Strong customer service and leadership skills
  • Experience in food service, food safety, and inventory management
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
