Job Description for General Technician
You will maintain effective communication with the Shift Leader and complete activities on the preventive maintenance schedule as specified in hotel plans, following all safety procedures. You are responsible for managing all tools supplied by the hotel professionally, maintaining and depositing them after shifts, and suggesting cost-saving ideas, not limited to the Engineering Department. Your main focus will be maintaining the hotel's swimming pools.
- Respond to guest repair requests promptly.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing their needs.
- Operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
- Have detailed knowledge of RO plants, generators, boilers, fire pumps, and fire panels.
- Communicate effectively with diverse individuals to understand their needs and provide assistance.
- Check for new maintenance requests from the message box and update remarks upon completion.
- Update maintenance work order forms accordingly.
- Interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units accurately.
- Pay close attention to details, ensuring speed and accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and proprietary information.
- Ensure the security of guest room access and hotel property.
- Read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
- Perform maintenance in guest rooms, such as plunging toilets, unclogging drains, and repairing hardware, electrical equipment, including lamps, air conditioners, HVAC, and ducts.
- Carry out maintenance in public areas, including plumbing, electrical repairs, and cosmetic fixes.
- Program TVs and handle general housekeeping and inventory duties related to engineering.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair various equipment.
- Maintain and lubricate tools and equipment.
- Operate independently to analyze problems and implement solutions with available resources, ensuring high quality.
- Be available for emergencies, acting to protect guests, staff, and property during incidents.
- Monitor fire alarm and life safety systems, understanding their operation and handling emergencies.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and technical breakdowns.
- Follow oral and written instructions precisely.
- Manage maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality and asset protection.
- Ensure the hotel's facilities and equipment are maintained safely and efficiently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Train and share knowledge with team members.
- Possess electronic knowledge relevant to the role.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English instructions related to operations, safety, and quality.
- At least six months to two years of relevant experience, with knowledge of water/wastewater treatment methods and practices.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to learn and operate machinery and equipment independently, meeting processing and quality standards.
- Proficiency in operating pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, and other process control equipment.
- Ability to use computer programs for process control.
- Teamwork skills and willingness to assume additional responsibilities.
- Availability for rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required.
Certifications and Training
- Mandatory safety, OSHA, and quality training, including HAZWOPER certification within 6 months if required.
- Cross-training opportunities.
- Proficiency in PPE usage, including respirators and gas detectors.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Standing 25%, walking 75%, possibly covering up to five miles per shift.
- Use hands for handling, reaching, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, entering confined spaces, and using ladders or stairs.
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds, occasionally 60 pounds.
- Visual acuity for process monitoring and equipment inspection.
