The Vice President of Product Development is a pivotal leadership role that requires strategic vision and commercial acumen. This position plays a crucial part in driving Asyad's product development and enhancing its position as a logistics hub.
This individual will be responsible for identifying and managing strategic growth opportunities, creating innovative products to attract foreign investment and trade, and strengthening Asyad's position in the market.
Key Responsibilities:- Strategic Planning
- Participate in the development and execution of Asyad's commercial strategy and 5-year business plan.
- Identify and evaluate strategic opportunities, including sales, partnerships, M&A, and expansion plans.
- Analyze market trends and assess business scenarios to guide long-term growth.
- Ensure alignment and coordination of strategic initiatives across all business units.
- Mitigate long-term strategic risks.
- Leadership
- Provide direction and leadership to the business development team, setting goals and ensuring high performance.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including investors and government entities.
- Mentor emerging talent within the organization and promote leadership development.
- Business Development
- Identify, evaluate, and manage key business opportunities.
- Expand Asyad's commercial footprint by attracting new clients and foreign investments.
- Create and enhance products that support Oman's role as a logistics hub.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve proposals, pricing, and customer solutions.
- Represent Asyad at international platforms and industry events.
- Market Intelligence & Product Development
- Support MI and Marcom teams with research and competitor analysis to inform business decisions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to design new offerings and integrated solutions.
- Support development and launch of products aligned with the ILS (Integrated Logistics Strategy).
- Recommend necessary investments and partnerships to sustain growth.
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Collaborate with the M&A team to evaluate and support potential deals.
- Ensure strategic and financial alignment of M&A and joint ventures.
- Participate and sometimes lead integrations of acquisitions.
- Marketing & Communications
- Align product development with branding and marketing strategies.
- Ensure consistent brand representation and targeted outreach campaigns.
- Organizational Development & Budgeting
- Shape team structure and processes for efficiency and clarity.
- Support budgeting and monitor financial performance of the company's commercial functions.
- Governance & Reporting
- Implement and oversee relevant policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to senior leadership.
- Internal & External Stakeholders
Internal: corporate and business units
External: leadership, investors, government officials, strategy consultants, potential partners, customers
Qualifications & Experience:Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Engineering, or related fields
MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree preferred
Experience:
10+ years in leadership roles in business development, commercial strategy, or logistics
Strong background in stakeholder management, M&A, and strategic planning
Deep understanding of logistics, ports, transport, and trade policies
Experience in Middle East and global logistics sectors
Proven ability to lead teams, drive growth, and influence senior stakeholders
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinker with commercial and financial acumen
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and change initiatives
- Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentation tools
