Contingency Shelter Craftsman

The Contingency Shelter Craftsman is a key member of the team responsible for designing, building and maintaining temporary shelter systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in metalwork and joinery, with experience in working with a range of materials and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design and build temporary shelter systems, using a range of materials and equipment.
• Carry out regular inspections of shelter systems to identify any potential issues or damage.
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including fabrication of new parts and components.
• Work with colleagues to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Develop and implement effective solutions to problems that arise during the course of the job.
• Provide training and guidance to junior staff members to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field, attending workshops and conferences as necessary.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all activities are coordinated effectively.
• Liaise with suppliers and contractors to source materials and services as needed.
• Participate in quality control checks to ensure that all work meets the required standards.
• Take ownership of any mistakes or errors made during the course of the job, taking steps to rectify them promptly.
• Be prepared to travel to different locations as required, working at heights and in confined spaces as necessary.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on duty.
