The role of a Catering Operations Assistant involves providing administrative support to the Kitchen Executives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be highly organized and effective, with a keen eye for detail.
The position requires the ability to maintain and organize documents, file, sort, and distribute information efficiently. The ideal candidate will serve as a role model for the team, ensuring compliance with hotel standards and policies.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Complete administrative tasks as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Assist with operational and administrative culinary duties in the Kitchen.
- Access, analyze, distribute, and file daily information to and from the Chef's office.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene in kitchens, restaurants, bars, and food storage areas.
- Manage the diary of the Executive Chef effectively.
- Assist in creating the daily Market list for the kitchen and support monthly inventory control.
- Conduct routine inspections for food handling, storage, preparation, and service.
- Assist in maintaining HACCP records and documentation.
- Collaborate with chefs and stewards to ensure cleanliness and sanitation protocols are followed.
- Report non-compliance issues and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls and messages.
- Act as the hub of the Kitchen department, supplying and collecting information from the Chefs and coordinate response and perform a backup role for the Executive Chef.
- Support the Culinary Department with outgoing correspondence and train them to perform smoothly.
- Assist with the ordering system, related questions, and train the Culinary Department to perform smoothly.
- Ensure regular Food Safety & HACCP Training Sessions are conducted to all food handlers in the Hotel.
- Participate in internal audits and external health inspections.
- Support hotel sustainability and hygiene initiatives under IHG's Green Engage standards.
