About This Role

We're seeking a skilled Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our Ubuntu Enablement team. As a key member of our global organization, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the success of our partnerships with leading OEMs, ODMs, and silicon companies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality software engineering services to OEM and ODM customers;
  • Collaborate closely with partners on platform bring-up and integration;
  • Work with project managers and engineers to identify, prioritize, and resolve critical issues;
  • Contribute to upstream projects to develop and maintain Ubuntu;
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts, gathering and analyzing data to reproduce and explain results;
  • Facilitate communication between Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams;
  • Possibility of international travel to support business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or higher degree in computer science or electrical engineering;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Familiarity with C, Python, and Bash programming languages;
  • Deep understanding of Linux kernel, boot process, and system-level architecture;
  • Hands-on experience with bootloader development (e.g., u-boot);
  • Expertise in software development for Arm or non-X86 platforms;
  • Exceptional debugging and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, globally distributed team environment;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with system firmware development (e.g., uboot, UEFI, ACPI, DSDT);
  • Debugging expertise in power management areas (PCI ASPM, SATA ALPM, low power profiles);
  • Background in board design, bring-up, and validation;
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering design tools (e.g., schematic capture, layout);
  • Understanding of computer architecture principles (x86, ARM, RISC-V);
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu development processes;
  • Proficiency in Shell/Python scripting.
