Cost Optimization and Budget Management

  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends and pricing to secure cost-effective procurement deals.
  • Expense Tracking: Track procurement expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Bulk Purchasing Strategies: Identify opportunities for bulk purchasing or long-term supplier agreements to reduce costs.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Industry Standards: Ensure all procured materials meet industry standards (e.g., ISO, OHSAS) and company specifications.
  • Supplier Verification: Work with the QA/QC team to verify supplier certifications and material quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Oman's import/export regulations, customs clearance, and Sohar Port policies.

Logistics and Supply Chain Coordination

  • Shipping and Freight Management: Liaise with shipping and freight forwarders for smooth inbound logistics.
  • Delivery Timeframe: Resolve any delays or disruptions in the supply chain, including customs clearance at Sohar Port.
  • Transportation Strategy: Optimize transportation and warehousing strategies to reduce lead times.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess supply chain risks (e.g., geopolitical, supplier reliability) and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Alternative Suppliers: Maintain alternative supplier networks to prevent production disruptions.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and delivery reports.
  • Performance Metrics: Generate periodic reports on procurement performance, cost savings, and supplier performance.

Sustainability and Ethical Procurement

  • Sustainable Sourcing Practices: Promote environmentally friendly and sustainable sourcing practices.
  • Supplier Compliance: Ensure suppliers adhere to ethical labor and environmental standards.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Experience: At least 5 years of procurement experience, exclusively in a chemical manufacturing industry OR Oil & Gas.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, Business, or related field.
  • Certification: CPSM is highly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of chemical procurement (preferably in water treatment/polymer industry).
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in ERP/SAP systems for procurement and inventory management and procurement software.
  • Familiarity: Familiarity with chemical raw materials, safety regulations, and global supply chains.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
