Operational Risk Manager Job Description:

The role involves assisting in the adoption of operational risk management best practices, ensuring the existence of formal manuals for all activities and processes, maintaining efficient and effective controls, being customer-oriented, supporting alignment across interdependent functions, complying with laws and regulations, and reflecting board directives. The Operational Risk Manager will also assess the internal control system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drafting the operational risk management framework & manual.
  2. Reviewing operating policies and manuals, discussing mitigating actions.
  3. Conducting walkthrough tests and sample checks to assess adherence to policies and manuals.
  4. Disseminating operational risk awareness and risk management culture across the organization.
  5. Providing consultations to other departments to facilitate operational risk management.
  6. Promoting automation of bank activities where applicable.
  7. Creating proactive, forward-looking identification, assessment (quantitative & qualitative), and treatment approaches to address current, emerging, and potential operational risk events.
  8. Leading projects related to RCSA, KRI, KPI, analyzing risk incident root causes, and following up to improve controls.
  9. Representing the risk management department in bank projects or investigations.
  10. Supporting the operational risk team in developing and implementing new initiatives and projects.
  11. Serving as backup staff to handle other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, economics, finance, or accounting.
  • CIA and CFE certifications are advantages.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in banking operational risk management or internal audit, with at least 4 years in a managerial role.
  • Exposure to different bank functions (operations and business) is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and autonomous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative, committed, punctual, confident, creative, and detail-oriented.
