Job Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative SEN teacher to join our team, who will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences that cater to the diverse needs of pupils with special educational needs (SEND). The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students' academic, emotional, and social development, while working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning
  • Design and deliver personalized lessons that meet the unique learning needs, abilities, and targets of each pupil, ensuring their EHCP goals are met.
  • Adapt the curriculum to ensure accessibility and relevance for pupils with various needs, including autism, moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, speech and language needs, physical disabilities, or SEMH challenges.
  • Utilize a range of teaching methods, strategies, and assistive technologies to promote engagement and independence among pupils.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all pupils feel valued and supported.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring
  • Set appropriate learning goals and monitor pupil progress using various formative and summative assessment methods.
  • Maintain detailed records of pupil achievement, behavior, and individual support strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and review of EHCPs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide regular feedback to parents, carers, and the wider multi-agency team.
  • Pastoral Support and Behaviour Management
  • Promote pupils' emotional well-being, self-esteem, and confidence.
  • Apply effective strategies for managing behavior, using positive reinforcement and tailored support plans.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to provide consistent support across the school day.
  • Support pupils in developing life skills, communication, and social interaction.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND is required.
  • Additional training or qualifications in SEN are desirable.
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting learners with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or behavioral needs is essential.
