Software Engineering Leadership

We partner closely with leading silicon companies to optimize Ubuntu for their latest hardware.

This role involves bringing both technical and management expertise to lead a team of software engineers. You will oversee an engineering team working across the entire Linux stack, from kernel to GUI, to optimize Ubuntu for the latest silicon.

  • Lead a distributed team of engineers to design and implement the best Ubuntu integration for IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Engage with commercial partners to deliver a high-quality, optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
  • Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and providing regular feedback.
  • Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on project milestones.
  • Maintain strict quality and reliability standards.
  • Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to align on product architecture and roadmaps.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a distributed team of software engineers.
  • Working closely with commercial partners.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members.
  • Overseeing commercial engagements.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Experience working with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technology field.
