Placement Opportunities

  • Promoting and promoting placement opportunities and benefits to students in various media, including flyers, presentations, documents, video, and online activities.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for Muscat University students seeking information on industrial placements and providing support throughout the placement year.
  • Maintaining and updating the Student Portal with relevant placement information, documentation, and application forms.
  • Delivering careers-related modules to prepare students for placements, facilitating reflection on their experiences, and guiding them through the application process, including CVs, application forms, interviews, and selection tests.
  • Providing advice and guidance to students on their applications and the requirements of undertaking a placement.
  • Collaborating with work placement tutors to ensure their availability for student and employer meetings, briefings on placement visits and reporting procedures, and addressing any problems or concerns.
  • Working closely with Faculty Directors to allocate workloads to work placement tutors and maintain consistency in approach.
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate employers and assessing the suitability of their offers to meet the needs of both firms and students.
  • Scheduling and planning for future placements, coordinating recruitment events, and ensuring that employers' needs are met and that students and staff are informed about these events.
  • Collecting and/or providing feedback to employers following a placement.
  • Ensuring that placement opportunities meet quality assurance guidelines, academic subject validation requirements, and Health and Safety compliance standards.
  • Maintaining long-term relationships with employers, communicating details of placements to relevant University bodies, and administering all aspects of the activity.
  • Monitoring market trends and competitor developments to understand and disseminate market intelligence for undergraduate placements across faculties.
  • Guiding students with personal and/or academic problems related to their placements and assisting students/employers experiencing placement difficulties in liaison with other student support staff as appropriate.
