Special Educational Needs Teacher Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to join our team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher, working with pupils who require additional support to reach their full potential.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to lead the learning of these students, utilising your skills and experience to create a safe and inclusive environment that fosters academic, emotional and social growth.

The successful candidate will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, and experience working with pupils with SEN. You will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised teaching and learning experiences, adapting the curriculum to meet the individual needs of each pupil.

You will work collaboratively with other staff members, therapists and external professionals to provide holistic support, contributing to the development and review of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the individual learning needs, abilities and EHCP targets of pupils.
    • Adapt the curriculum to ensure accessibility and relevance to pupils with a range of needs.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Set appropriate learning goals and monitor pupil progress using formative and summative assessment methods.
    • Maintain detailed records of pupil achievement, behaviour and individual support strategies.
  • Pastoral Support and Behaviour Management:
    • Promote pupils' emotional well-being, self-esteem and confidence.
    • Apply effective strategies for managing behaviour, using positive reinforcement and tailored support plans.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN.
  • Additional training or qualifications in SEN desirable.
