Safeguarding Software and Systems

As an Application and System Security Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in proactively safeguarding software and systems against cyber threats, data breaches, and potential risks.

Purpose and Responsibilities:

  • We are looking for an individual who can implement IT department policies and procedures to achieve objectives, fostering a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.
  • The ideal candidate will conduct thorough assessments, code reviews, and vulnerability scanning for applications to identify and address security weaknesses, mitigating the risk of security incidents.
  • Collaboration with development teams is essential to ensure secure software development practices, prioritizing security from the outset of the development lifecycle.
  • Our team requires a skilled professional to perform penetration testing and vulnerability scanning on systems and applications to uncover security vulnerabilities, analyzing and interpreting test results to inform remediation efforts.
  • Promoting and enforcing secure coding practices among development teams is crucial, emphasizing input validation, output encoding, and error handling.
  • Security integration throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) is critical, adhering to industry-standard application security frameworks such as OWASP.
  • Configuring and managing Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) is necessary to protect web applications from common attacks, including SQL injection and cross-site scripting (XSS).
  • Implementing secure authentication methods and role-based access control (RBAC) systems is required to manage user access to applications and systems.
  • Applying encryption techniques is essential to safeguard sensitive data both in transit and at rest, protecting against unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Ensuring the security of application programming interfaces (APIs) through proper authentication, authorization, and input validation is a key responsibility.
  • Managing the timely application of security patches and updates is necessary to mitigate vulnerabilities in application software and systems, minimizing downtime and business disruption.
