Cloud Engineer Opportunity

The Canonical Public Cloud team is looking for enthusiastic engineers to work on the Ubuntu distribution. Engineers will collaborate closely with the Ubuntu Engineering organization to optimize technologies such as cloud specific agents, webservers, databases, and virtualization and containerization stacks for public clouds. This includes working closely with world-class cloud partners like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, IBM, and Oracle to ensure a common operating experience for users while celebrating each partner's points of differentiation.

You will have the opportunity to help evolve Ubuntu by contributing to its development, testing, and maintenance. As part of the Public Cloud team, you will work with our experienced engineers and enjoy the benefits of learning and growing alongside the best in the business.

This role involves:

  • Collaborating proactively within a distributed team
  • Fostering a software ecosystem with seamless user experience for all Ubuntu users
  • Evaluating contributions of other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards
  • Collaborating with other teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, with upstream projects, and commercially supported customers
  • Debugging issues on open source code and team maintained code
  • Working with the Ubuntu Engineering Server team to maintain and package software such as cloud agents and traditional server workloads
