Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Sector Lawyer to fill a key role in our organization. The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience in Omani law and a thorough understanding of energy market regulations, licensing, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regulatory Compliance and Licensing
    • Support the Head of Legal in ensuring regulatory compliance with electricity generation, grid connection, power purchase agreements, and tariffs.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative and regulatory developments to ensure internal regulatory records are accurate and compliant.
    • Liaise with regulatory authorities and market operators on electricity market participation and manage regulatory disputes, tariff adjustments, and contract enforcement.
  • Power Purchase Agreements
    • Draft, review, and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with off-takers and government entities.
  • Regulatory Interactions
    • Engage with APSR and other government authorities on regulatory filings and interactions.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Law, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in energy regulatory and market compliance law, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm handling energy sector matters.
  • Qualification to practice in Oman; legal experience in other GCC jurisdictions is an asset.
  • A deep understanding of energy market regulation, licensing, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with grid connection agreements and power purchase contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills in English required; Arabic proficiency preferred.
