Energy Engineering Lectureship

Synopsis:

This role is primarily focused on teaching and managing the delivery of various programmes.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality teaching experiences across foundation, undergraduate, laboratory, pre-masters, postgraduate, and executive programmes.
  • Ensure all necessary content and materials are available for degree programmes on time.
  • Develop and implement student assignments, module delivery, and assessment, ensuring coherence and relevance.
  • Liaise with the faculty Director on student matters, timetable planning, and manage module timetables, content, and resource areas, liaising with academic and technical staff as needed.
  • Create engaging learning and teaching activities that reflect the needs and contemporary currency of the subject, fostering a group dynamic and peer learning.
  • Engage with students and demonstrators during laboratory sessions to ensure a high level of understanding among students.
  • Ensure all learning experiences meet the expectations of relevant accreditation bodies.
  • Maintain student feedback through meetings, surveys, and reviews, and work with the Faculty Director to address any student dissatisfaction or issues.
  • Coordinate final year projects and theses to ensure consistency and rigour, including liaison with industry where necessary.
  • Participate in Open Days, external events, and interviews as required by the Faculty Director to support recruitment activities.
  • Maintain flexible working patterns, including some evening and weekend work, to support programme, faculty, and university business.
  • Engage with businesses, professional bodies, schools, colleges, communities, and enterprises, organising student outreach and inviting industry speakers to enhance the student experience and facilitate industrial placement of students, as appropriate.
  • Organise, prepare, and participate in university meetings and events, including Boards of Examiners, Programme Reviews, Planning and Monitoring committees, Student/Staff Liaison, and faculty and university committees and policy developments.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Director and other University representatives to ensure student attainment, success, and progression by monitoring student attendance and performance, and obtaining student feedback.

Requirements:
  • A PhD holder is preferred, ideally with experience in chemical engineering curriculum.
