Optical Network Specialist

Key Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require a strong foundation in electrical or computer engineering, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in network integration and technical support. Your expertise in fiber types and signal impairments, as well as knowledge of modulation/demodulation techniques and signal structures, will be essential in designing and implementing innovative solutions for optical network technologies.

You will also need to possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Additionally, you should be able to stay up-to-date with industry advancements and document processes to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred)
  • 3+ years of network integration and technical support experience with optical network technologies
  • Expertise in fiber types and signal impairments (loss, dispersion, mixing)
  • Strong knowledge of modulation/demodulation techniques (OOK, PSK, QAM)
  • Familiarity with signal structures and hierarchies (Ethernet, Fibre Channel, SONET, SDH, OTN)
  • Experience with OTN, DWDM, and SDH networks, reliability, and resiliency analysis
