Refrigeration Systems Specialist

The Lead Refrigeration Mechanic oversees the maintenance, repair, and operation of refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, combustible equipment, industrial air compressors, and related equipment items. This role ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

Key Responsibilities:

• Installs, modifies, repairs, and operates refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and related control systems and equipment.
• Performs installation tasks involving assembling, testing, calibrating, and adjusting control systems for prime movers and dual equipment cooling installations and specialized refrigeration.
• Diagnoses and isolates unusual malfunctions to individual system components.
• Uses special pressure, temperature, and analysis test equipment to determine efficiency and effectiveness of refrigeration cooling.
• Adjusts, calibrates, and aligns components for optimum operating efficiency within design limitations.
• Installs, modifies, repairs, and operates plant systems and equipment according to applicable Technical Publications and directives.
• Inspects refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and related control systems and equipment.
• Inspects completed or in progress work for compliance with standard operating procedures, safety standards, and technical publications.
• Prepares and completes documentation including Work Orders, USAF Supply and Amentum forms and updates Maximo.
• Performs inspections to determine operational condition of systems and equipment on assets in accordance with Maintenance Action Sheets and related technical publications.
• Prepares assets/equipment for air/sea/road haul shipments in accordance with Technical Orders, Manuals, Checklists, Regulations, Maintenance Action Sheets, and UTC Configuration listings.
• Performs servicing and/or maintenance of in-use assets as required.
• Ensures all tools, personal protective equipment, and clothing issued remain safe, secure, and serviceable reporting any deficiencies.
• Assists in loading/unloading of assets and performs other tasks and duties as directed by management.
• May be required to assist other departments when directed or requested to accomplish a specific task or project.
• Performs Temporary Duty (TDY) within the Area of Operation as required by tasking.
• Responsible for coordinating with other departments outside of BOB for support functions.
• Responsible for ensuring personnel are performing to their maximum capability.
• Conducts on-the-job (OJT) training for assigned staff on assigned equipment and prepares and updates training records.
• Ensures all technicians adhere to prescribed quality, environmental, and safety standards.
• Performs pre, during, and final quality inspections on equipment that is in the production process.
• Completes quality documentation on inspections accomplished within the work center.
• Reports any situations that affect production capability and output that cannot be resolved at the work center level to management.
• Adheres to applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Utilizes equipment manuals to identify required parts and provide necessary information to complete supply requisitions.
• Prepares and submits Quality Deficiency Reports, Material Deficiency Reports, and incorporates Technical Order Changes, as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Works in a shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.
