Job Description

Petroleum development is a critical aspect of Oman's economy, with companies like Petroleum Development Oman playing a leading role in exploration and production.

We deliver the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

To assist senior assurance professionals in conducting field activities for personal and process safety.

The role involves conducting assurance activities across all units and base locations, including PDO and service providers.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure strong understanding of regulations and standards to identify gaps and drive compliance.
  2. Self-starting and owning the execution of planned assurance activities.
  3. Taking appropriate action when detecting non-compliances; this may include shutting down work units in case of severe non-compliance or to avert an unsafe situation.
  4. Assisting operations team leaders in driving contractors to close out agreed actions to address identified gaps.
  5. Conducting level 2 operational readiness audits for unit startup, supporting the contracting department with identified gaps and risk rating for decision making.
  6. Verifying gap closure upon operations department approval of actions closed out by contractors.
  7. Conducting yearly level 2 MSE audits, delivering audit terms of reference, generating audit questionnaires, logistic planning, audit execution, and reporting.
  8. Conducting Level 2 HSE banding pre/post contract awarding, driving contractor gap closure and verification.
  9. Assisting in level 3 assurance activity planning, providing support and coaching for operations teams to conduct level 3 activities on site.
  10. Conducting ad-hoc assurance activities on request of the Wells Assurance Manager/SWE.
  11. Managing audit data reporting through digital tools for assigned audits.
  12. Generating learning from assurance and practice worth replication, sharing and promoting it across all units.
  13. Driving learning from incident implementation across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering/Science/HSE related discipline or equivalent.
  • Oil and Gas industry experience is a must.
  • 7 years in Well Engineering and/or HSE in Oil and Gas, with a minimum of 4 years as Site Supervisor and/or HSE operational role.
