Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Mason with expertise in constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of brick, stone or concrete. As a Mason, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces, laying bricks, mixing mortar, and ensuring all work is done efficiently and according to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare surfaces by cleaning them and laying out appropriate tools and materials.
2. Read and interpret blueprints or drawings to determine the layout of structures.
3. Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using rulers, pencils, or chalk.
4. Cut or break bricks, stones, or blocks to desired size using hand tools.
5. Mix mortar according to specified proportions.
6. Lay bricks in courses, spreading mortar between courses and tapping bricks into place with hammers or trowels.
7. Use hand tools such as chisels, hammers, and saws to shape stones for fitting around obstacles or into odd spaces.
8. Check vertical and horizontal alignment of courses using plumb bobs, spirit levels, or straightedges.
9. Repair cracks in existing brickwork or fill holes with grout using trowels.
10. Clean excess mortar from the surface of freshly laid brickwork using water hoses.

Requirements

1. Proven experience as a Mason in the construction industry.
2. Ability to read blueprints/drawings and take accurate measurements.
3. Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and procedures.
4. Excellent knowledge of various masonry materials, tools, equipment, and techniques.
5. Physically fit with good hand-eye coordination.
6. Ability to work at heights.
