Purpose and Scope
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that all pilotage services are carried out with due regard for safety and efficiency. The successful candidate will act as the liaison officer between the Port Authority and the Ship's Master while on board, assisting in the control of port traffic by advising vessels where to enter the channel and when to expect the pilot to board. They will also assist with coordination arrangements for vessels arriving, anchoring, berthing, unberthing, shifting ships, and departing, ensuring timely completion of relevant pilotage documentation and accurate provision of information for charging.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required qualifications include a Master Mariner Class 1 certificate with STCW95 compliance, along with comprehensive experience in navigation, marine law, seamanship, marine safety, stability, and ship handling. Analytical, judgment, organizational, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage an incident and provide leadership. Problem-solving skills and physical fitness to carry out duties in a 24/7 roster are also necessary.
