Cloud Computing Engineer

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Leading the architecture of LXD and MicroCloud platforms
• Mentoring, developing, and advising colleagues to support their career progression and growth
• Developing software using Golang and C programming languages, ensuring efficient and secure code
• Reviewing code written by other engineers to maintain high standards
• Ensuring the product meets performance and efficiency requirements
• Demonstrating technical leadership within the organization and community
• Working from home with occasional global travel for company events and conferences

We are seeking an exceptional software architect and engineer with expertise in Golang and C, who can lead our team in designing and evolving LXD and MicroCloud. The ideal candidate will have experience with modern cloud infrastructure offerings, APIs, and underlying technologies.

Key Requirements:

• A strong academic record from high school and university, demonstrating academic excellence
• An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field, providing a solid foundation in computer science principles
• Exceptional drive and a proven track record of delivering results beyond expectations, showcasing outstanding achievement
• Technical leadership skills combined with the ability to motivate and direct a team, fostering collaboration and growth
• Excellent organisational and self-starting skills, with a focus on delivering projects on time, meeting deadlines
• A professional approach when interacting with colleagues, partners, and the wider community, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
• Experience with Go and C programming languages, ensuring proficiency and competence
• Knowledge of storage, networking, and virtualisation concepts, providing a solid understanding of underlying technologies
• Familiarity with container technologies and concurrent, distributed systems, ensuring adaptability and versatility
• A high level of conscientiousness and attention to detail, with a focus on performance and efficiency, guaranteeing high-quality work
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
• Experience working with Linux operating systems, preferably Debian or Ubuntu, providing a solid understanding of Linux principles
• Strong interpersonal skills, a curious and flexible approach, and a commitment to accountability, ensuring successful team collaboration
