Environmental Officer Job Description

This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, revising, and ensuring the implementation of a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP). Additionally, you will deliver training on environmental management requirements related to construction activities and prepare relevant communication materials.

  • Develop, review, revise, and ensure implementation of a CEMP.
  • Deliver training on environmental management requirements.
  • Integrate specific environmental requirements into Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Conduct regular environmental site inspections and generate reports.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and data interpretation.
  • Manage responses to environmental incidents and ensure proper closeout.
  • Perform internal environmental audits and participate in external audits or authority visits.
  • Carry out Environmental Aspects and Impacts Assessments for project activities.

To be successful in this role, you must have strong interpersonal and soft skills, with professional business etiquette. You should also have proven ability to manage complex workloads, coordinate multiple resources, and prioritize tasks effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Environmental Studies or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience as an environmental engineer/officer in Oman/GCC region.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • ISO 14001:2015 certification.
  • Knowledge in environmental permitting processes, CEMP development, and environmental management procedures.
