Objectives of the RoleThe Horticulture In-Charge is responsible for leading and managing all horticultural activities across the farm, ensuring high standards of crop production, quality control, biosecurity, and adherence to organic certification requirements. This role involves supervising the horticulture team, coordinating crop schedules, and collaborating with other departments to optimize farm productivity.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead all organic crop production activities including greenhouses, net houses, open fields, fruit orchards, and tree crops.
- Implement and enforce organic certification standards (USDA, EU Organic, etc.), biosecurity protocols, and food safety policies.
- Develop and oversee crop production schedules aligned with organic farming best practices and budget targets.
- Monitor crop health daily, identify pest and disease threats, and apply organic-approved control measures.
- Manage organic harvest processes, ensuring quality control and adherence to organic packing standards.
- Supervise, train, and mentor horticulture staff on organic farming techniques, safety standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate closely with livestock and beekeeping teams to support ecosystem services like composting and pollination.
- Collect and prepare samples for organic certification laboratory testing in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records for organic certification compliance and prepare samples for laboratory testing as required.
- Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all health and safety regulations on the farm.
- Support farm management with budgeting, resource planning, and continuous improvement of horticultural practices.
Reporting Structure
Incumbent will report to Farm Manager
Personal Attributes /Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Organic Farming, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in organic farming or horticulture operations, preferably in an organic certified farm environment.
- Strong knowledge of organic certification standards (e.g., USDA Organic, EU Organic) and compliance requirements.
- Experience in managing crop production, pest and disease control, and harvesting in organic systems.
- Good command of English; knowledge of Indian languages is a plus.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- Preparedness to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by farm activities.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and adapt to the dynamic nature of farm operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, respecting diverse perspectives and practices.
- Primarily outdoor work on a farm setting.
