As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for supporting the head and sous chef in a busy hotel kitchen delivering consistently high-quality food, handle purchases orders and ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparation and keeps up to date with the new products, recipes and preparation techniques.
Every day is different, but you'll mostly do:
- Assisting the senior chefs in menu planning and food preparation.
- Ensuring that quality standards are met in every dish that is prepared.
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, including proper sanitation and food safety practices.
- Managing inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
- Training and supervising junior kitchen staff members.
- Overseeing the preparation and plating of dishes during service hours.
- Adjusting recipes as needed to meet dietary restrictions or customer preferences.
- Communicating effectively with other staff members to ensure smooth operations in the kitchen.
- Constantly striving to improve skills and knowledge by attending training sessions and researching culinary trends
- To ensure that you and all reporting staff maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming at all times.
- To ensure that designated uniforms are worn well pressed and in a good state of repair and to ensure that name badges are worn at all times.
- To assist your Outlet Manager in maintaining and updating the departmental Service Standards Manual.
What we need from you
Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:
- Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of international and regional cuisines
- Experience in food preparation and recipe development
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Diploma or Vocational Certificate in Culinary Skills or related field
- 3 years' experience as a chef including at least 2 years in similar positions or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
