We are seeking a seasoned SQL Server Administrator to join our technical services team in Oman. This role is crucial in supporting our AMC clients by ensuring the stability, security, and performance of their SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, performance tuning, and high availability solutions, along with a proactive mindset towards customer success and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and manage SQL Server instances in line with best practices and client-specific requirements.
• Provide day-to-day support and proactive maintenance for SQL Server environments under AMC agreements.
• Monitor and administer SQL databases across development, testing, and production environments.
• Conduct regular health checks and audits; deliver reports with recommendations and implement necessary changes.
• Manage backups, restores, patches, and regular database optimization tasks such as index tuning and query performance improvements.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to performance, connectivity, locking/blocking, and query optimization.
• Design, implement, and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Replication, and Clustering.
• Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams during deployments and upgrades.
• Enforce access control and security protocols in alignment with data governance standards.
• Assist clients with data extraction, reporting, complex query tuning, and problem resolution.
• Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation covering configurations, standard procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Be available for extended or off-hours during critical incidents or urgent client support requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server administration and support.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server 2016 and newer versions, with proficiency in T-SQL scripting and performance diagnostics.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies, database monitoring tools, and system patching.
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server platforms and Active Directory.
• Familiarity with tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Performance Monitor.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
• Strong communication and customer service orientation.
• Omani Nationals will be given preference.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

• Microsoft Certified: SQL Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
• Experience with cloud platforms including Azure SQL, Managed Instances, and AWS RDS.
• Proficiency in PowerShell for automation of administrative tasks.
• Understanding of SharePoint integration with SQL Server is a significant advantage.
• Prior experience managing SharePoint content databases and optimizing performance in SharePoint environments.
