Diagnoses, maintains, and repairs heavy-duty equipment like trucks, buses, and construction machines, using diagnostic tools to identify issues, replacing worn parts, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all work adheres to safety regulations and manufacturer specifications. Key responsibilities include inspecting equipment, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems, performing preventative maintenance, disassembling and reassembling complex components, and accurately documenting all work performed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection and Diagnosis: Conduct visual inspections and use computerized diagnostic tools and test equipment to pinpoint mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components of engines, transmissions, brakes, and other heavy systems.
  • Component Overhaul: Disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test major components like engines and hydraulic systems to ensure proper function.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory, often using computerized systems.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, procedures, and industry regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Testing and Adjustment: Test equipment after repairs to verify performance and make necessary adjustments to meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Field Service: Travel to various worksites, including construction and remote locations, to perform on-site repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

5-6 years of experience + aware of the latest trends and vehicle requirements) (Must be familiar with the following brand of equipment Mercedes, MAN, Renault, Sitrack, HINO

  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in working with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and potentially welding equipment.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: A strong understanding of heavy-duty vehicle and equipment systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to diagnose complex faults, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication: Effective communication with supervisors, drivers, and other team members to coordinate repairs and clearly explain work performed.
  • Safety Consciousness: A thorough understanding and adherence to safety procedures and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying current with advancements in heavy equipment technology, diagnostic techniques, and repair methods.
