The Corrosion Control Specialist is a hands-on technician who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the corrosion control facility. The technician is to ensure that correct trade practices are carried out at all times and within the Health and Safety guidelines specified. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Implements specified work schedules for all routine and priority work, effectively using manpower and equipment.
  • Uses materials and equipment identified in USCENTAFI or equivalent to prepare vehicles for long term/extended storage.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled visual inspections on all long term/extended storage assets in accordance with and USCENTAFI to include a 90-day visual inspection of all assets in extended storage.
  • Removes or abrades existing paint finish by sandblasting, scraping or chemical paint removing methods.
  • Treats corrosion on ferrous and non-ferrous metals by grinding, wire brushing or chemical acid treatment as is appropriate.
  • Applies metal conditioners and pretreatment washes.
  • Applies body filler to holed or depressed areas and to smooth these filled areas to compliment the surface contour.
  • Applies complete finishing schemes, as specified, using pneumatic or airless spraying equipment or by brush if appropriate.
  • Applies lettering and identifying insignia and performs maintenance and repair procedures to all equipment used during the performance of these duties.
  • Identifies correct thinners with paints for different applications.
  • Ensures that correct trade practices are carried out at all times with special regard to health and safety aspects in a work environment of high-risk health hazards.
  • Responsible for maintaining supplies and material stocks and reorders/reports shortages to the Material Control Specialist in a timely manner to insure uninterrupted production capabilities.
  • Prepares vehicles for final examination by the quality control inspector and or QAE to guarantee that the end item achieves or exceeds the required standard of quality.
  • Is responsible for issued tools.
  • Implements a method of tool control and a program of servicing and repairing all tools and equipment used in the performance of corrosion control.
  • Performs servicing and repair on all tools and equipment used in the performance of corrosion and reports of all unserviceable non-repairable tools to his supervisor immediately.
  • Attends regular safety briefings and on-the job training as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Work in maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.

Minimum Requirements

  • ​Must have organizational skills and be able to understand, speak, read and write English at a beginner level.
  • Must possess a comprehensive and proven knowledge in a wide and varied range of refinishing schemes and techniques.
  • Must possess a depth of knowledge of associate health and hazard risks and the established precautions.
  • Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possesses a qualification in painting and finishing.
  • Must have a minimum of two years' experience in both corrosion control and vehicle preservation techniques.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
