Responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components using various welding techniques, often in challenging and potentially hazardous environments. Possess advanced knowledge of welding procedures, safety regulations, and quality control, and may also supervise junior welders and contribute to project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Welding and Fabrication:
Perform a wide range of welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, on various metals and alloys, ensuring welds meet specified standards and project requirements.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide welding and fabrication processes.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Proficiently operate and maintain welding equipment, including power tools, hand tools, and specialized machinery.
Quality Control:
Conduct thorough quality inspections to ensure welds meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe work environment.
Supervision and Mentorship:
May supervise and mentor junior welders, providing guidance on welding techniques, safety practices, and quality control.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
Diagnose and resolve welding-related issues, such as weld defects or equipment malfunctions.
Material Handling:
Safely handle materials and components, including lifting, moving, and positioning them for welding.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including weld logs, inspection reports, and material certifications.
Staying Updated:
Continuously update knowledge and skills on new welding technologies, materials, and industry best practices.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Advanced Welding Skills: Mastery of various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret and apply information from technical drawings and schematics.
Material Knowledge: Understanding of different metals, alloys, and their welding characteristics.
Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot welding issues and find effective solutions.
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Communication and Teamwork: Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
Oil and Gas Experience: Significant experience of atleast 6 years working in the oil and gas industry is highly desirable.
