Job Purpose

This is a two years contract as a Well Engineering Advisor. The Well Engineering Advisor is responsible for delivering high-quality technical assurance and advisory support across all well engineering activities within Block 6 and other EDO assets. This includes comprehensive cost reviews, budget optimization, well design improvement, contracts evaluation, and participation in value assurance reviews. The role ensures that well engineering activities are safe, cost-effective, technically robust, and aligned with EDO's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  1. Technical Assurance – Cost & Performance

  2. Lead detailed reviews of capital and operating expenditures associated with well engineering.

  3. Benchmark well engineering costs against regional and global industry standards.

  4. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining safety, integrity, and performance.

  5. Budget Challenge & Optimization

  6. Review operator budget submissions, challenge assumptions, and identify improvement areas.

  7. Analyze spending patterns and cost drivers to support more accurate forecasting.

  8. Provide recommendations for realistic and optimized well engineering budgets.

  9. Well Design Review & Optimization

  10. Conduct technical reviews and challenge existing designs

  11. Identify opportunities to optimize design while maintaining quality, integrity, and safety.

  12. Recommend best practices, innovative solutions, and value-adding design alternatives.

  13. Contract Evaluation & Recommendations

  14. Review drilling rig and critical service contracts.

  15. Assess contract terms for alignment with market conditions and operational requirements.
  16. Identify renegotiation opportunities to improve commercial value and cost efficiency.

  17. Provide recommendations to ensure future contracts deliver optimal value.

  18. Well Engineering Value Assurance Reviews

  19. Participate in Value Assurance Review activities for the company projects.

  20. Evaluate well engineering designs, cost maturity, and execution strategies.

  21. Provide clear, actionable recommendations to strengthen design robustness and cost competitiveness.

  22. Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder management

  23. Work closely with asset management teams, commercial/planning, finance teams for the company yearly deliverables.

  24. Support corporate planning cycles with technical and cost insights.

  25. Keep good relationships with various stakeholders, including operators, partners and government entities.

  26. Documentation & Reporting

  27. Maintain high-quality documentation and structured reporting.

  28. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management.

  29. Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  30. Ensure adherence to API/ISO standards and well integrity requirements.

  31. Recommend improvements to workflows, cost estimation, and design standards.
  32. Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering fields
  • Master's degree in Well Engineering or Drilling Engineering preferred

Work Experience

  • Minimum 20 years in well engineering, drilling operations, cost analysis, and well delivery
