Senior UX Designer

We are hiring a Senior UX Designer to lead the design team, overseeing team performance, delivery, quality, and completeness. This role involves delivering outstanding UX experiences and generating ideas for team-wide improvements.

Our design team aims to transform complex, open-source software into efficient, intuitive products that influence how complex systems are built and expand open source capabilities for enterprise IT. We seek an exceptional user experience designer who shares this passion.

This role reports to a UX design manager and is based remotely within the EMEA region.

1. Researching new features and improvements with the open source community and Canonical customers.
2. Collaborating with product managers and engineers to shape product futures.
3. Providing direction to the design team, ensuring alignment with product strategy and best practices.
4. Evolving and evangelizing design systems for consistency and efficiency.
5. Addressing systems-level challenges with interconnected constraints.
6. Leading end-to-end design processes for various challenges.
7. Driving Canonical design forward through a dedicated working group.

1. An exceptional academic record from high school and university.
2. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in User Experience, Design, STEM, or a compelling alternative narrative.
3. Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology, and design.
4. A commitment to continuous learning—curious, flexible, scientific.
5. Result-oriented with a drive to complete work and celebrate successes.
6. Confidence in user research practices.
7. Engagement with the latest design research and innovations.
8. Ability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.

UX designers should be excellent communicators, comfortable working with engineers, designers, and executives, and capable of presenting their design positions clearly. They should be excited to tackle complex design challenges and connect their leadership to the company's strategic vision.
