About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and services in the private/hybrid and public Cloud, thereby bridging the gap between infrastructure and development teams to deliver software faster. The Cloud Engineer drives the migration to the Cloud and designs & sets up a best-in-class cloud environment together with EA and other engineering Chapters. The Cloud Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions, develop and implement cloud policies and procedures, monitor and optimize cloud performance and cost, and provide technical guidance and mentorship.

Education & Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in developing and implementing IT systems.
  3. Must have experience in the product and platform operating models.
  4. Must have experience in Digital Product and Platform.
  5. Must have good experience in tender contractual projects.
  6. Must have experience in managing a team of 10 people and above vendors/contractors.
  7. Possess good understanding of SDLC cycle.
  8. Candidates who are PMP certified will have an added advantage.
  9. Experience driving results and clarifying priorities in a busy and/or political environment.
  10. Strong communication skills in order to effectively communicate with and make strategic recommendations to Sr.
  11. Experience in any formal architecture framework such as TOGAF, IFW, CBM, BIAN.
  12. Expert at discovering customer business & technical requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Build and integrate software tools to enhance an organizational system's reliability and scalability in the cloud.
  2. Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based architecture including private & hybrid Cloud.
  3. Select and implement Cloud management tools including automation, monitoring, cost, security etc. Develop solutions and automations for operational aspects of Cloud.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud solutions.
  5. Drive the roadmap for Cloud migration to private/public cloud together with EA and product teams.
  6. Develop and implement PDO cloud policies and procedures including security & data governance.
  7. Monitor and optimize cloud performance and cost.
  8. Writing and developing code to automate processes, such as analyzing logs, testing production environments and responding to any issues.
