Junior Lawyer – Legal Affairs

Assist Litigation Manager in rendering the required legal services to the business and shall broadly assume the following:

1. Providing assistance in drafting litigation documents, attending court to file litigation documents and represent the company as may be required from time to time.
2. Handling correspondences on legal aspects and recommending appropriate legal actions.
3. Accompany staff on field activities where disputes and conflicts occur to guide discussions and collate all pertinent information to be used for decisions and actions.
4. Support investigations and maintain active liaison with HR Unit.
5. Document legal activities and maintain an up-to-date legal actions and issues database for quick reference and guide to management and staff.
6. Evaluate claims brought against the company and managing the resolution to those claims.
7. Participate in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, leases and other legal instruments while working closely with the concerned departments, as may be required.
8. Assist in the selection and appraisal of external legal advisors.
9. Assume any other responsibility assigned to him by the Litigation Manager.

The Legal Executive is expected to produce a monthly report showing:

1. Progress made on outstanding matters from previous reports.
2. Targets for the month and achievement thereof.
3. Status of outstanding matters.
4. Targets for the following month.

Knowledge / Technical Skills:

1. Qualified to appear in front of the Primary Courts of the Sultanate of Oman.
2. Having up-to-date knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice standards related to joint stock companies.
3. Good drafting skills and communication (oral and written) skills in both Arabic and English with an eye for detail.
4. Good organizational skills with an ability to prioritize assignments.
5. An open and approachable style that encourages communications, co-operation, co-ordination and liaison at all levels, combined with assertiveness and decisiveness.
6. A high level of intelligence and business acumen combined with unquestioned personal and professional integrity.
7. IT literate.

Education / Certifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in law, preferably with a business qualification.

Experience:

1. Minimum of two to three years of experience in a commercial environment and/or a legal practice with a focus on corporate commercial, and labor law and litigation.
