Job Description

About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

To provide essential monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting and reporting services in compliance with the Oil Concession Agreement, Gas Agreement, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This includes ensuring the accurate recording, management, and reporting of fixed assets to maintain financial integrity and compliance, as well as the timely preparation and review of ledger reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, and holding a related professional qualification; ACCA, CIMA or CPA etc.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in accounting and finance positions.
• Good all-round knowledge of Finance disciplines, competent in key finance business activities and should have a good understanding of Oil and Gas exploration and production business, including hydrocarbon transportation processes.
• Ability to deliver under pressure whilst maintaining professional standards.
• Good systems and tools skills (e.g SAP, Power BI) and be able to manage monthly reporting and routines including analysis, reviews, and reconciliations.
• Be able to set fit for purpose policies and standards with regard to IFRS guidelines and applicable accounting standards.
• Ability to understand key factors influencing major external relationships and support accurate reporting to shareholders.
• Creative thinker and team player with and enterprise wide mind set.
• Communication and writing skills that are sufficiently developed to facilitate interaction with a wide range of Company and PDO stakeholders.
  
  

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain and regularly update the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Monitor and track all asset-related transactions, including acquisitions, transfers, disposals, revaluations, and impairments, while ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Collaborate with project teams, and finance business departments to facilitate the timely capitalization of assets and alignment with project completion milestones.
• Conduct periodic reviews and reconciliations of fixed asset records to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Support audits by providing detailed asset records, and reports as required, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide regular reports and analysis on fixed asset performance, trends, and variances to management.
• Support in preparation of the annual Consolidated/Standalone Financial Statements and support the team leader in the external audit process by providing relevant audit trail as required.
• Interface and engage with relevant staff in the organization to ensure integrity of Master data and provide/verify financial information and assurance/review on assets write off proposals and update of assets for reporting and Joint Venture.
• Execute the PDO Ledgers maintenance requirements and integrity checks including timely update of relevant data such as oil reserves and production for Unit of Production depreciation.
• Prepare and issue timely monthly reconciliations relating to various company ledgers and undertake relevant action for correction and resolution.
• Support and carry out physical verification of fixed assets and awareness sessions related to Value of Work Done (VOWD) guidelines, accounting policies & standards specific to IFRS and asset accounting processes.
• Actively participate in the preparation and submission of Shareholders' monthly & quarterly reports.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing business processes and collaborate with the IT team to support process automation
