Accountant

ROLE OBJECTIVE

The accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, maintaining vendor/customer relationships, and adhering to financial policies and regulations. The role involves both executing and supervising key accounts payable, receivables, banking, and cash transactions, as well as all related activities. This includes providing expertise and guidance to the accounts team and collaborating with other departments to ensure a positive financial health.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Entering, monitoring, and reviewing every financial transaction of IFDC and tasks assigned by the management, and ensuring compliance with IFDC accounting policies and in accordance with IFRSs
• Timely payment to suppliers and other statutory and regulatory payments for IFDC.
• Perform month-end accounting activities such as bank reconciliations and closing journal entries for IFDC.
• Ensure timely invoicing to the customers and keep customers' ageing up to date, and implement a strong follow-up mechanism for collections and recoveries.
• Ensure the liquidity of the company and proactively report any forthcoming liquidity deficits.
• Ensure a good relationship with the banks by arranging the timely payments of loans or markups.
• Ensuring accuracy and completeness of records and documentation, both in soft and hard files.
• Resolve any issues or discrepancies with all the business partners in a timely fashion.
• Conduct reconciliations and assist with month-end, quarter-end end and year-end closing processes.
• Perform financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
• Assisting in the preparation and submission of IFDC's monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, P&L Analysis, Balance Sheet schedules variances, and reporting the same to management as per the reporting timeline and as per KPI's set from time to time.
• Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely fashion related to IFDC.
• Provide guidance and training to other colleagues and trainees when needed.
• Preparing annual budget/forecast for IFDC and its subsidiaries as per the set timelines.
• Tax filing (VAT/WHT/Income tax) for IFDC before the deadlines.
• Lead quarterly/annual audit activities for IFDC and liaise with auditors for the timely completion of the audit.
• Improve the accounting systems for IFDC by revamping the existing accounting systems where required.
• Proposing the creation of GL codes and item codes for inventory, enabling better management reporting and keeping standardization and controls for COA at the parent level in line with the external audit report.
• Creating reporting templates for management reporting as per requirements.
• All other tasks are assigned by the reporting manager or the Chief Financial Officer.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls, minimizing the risk of fraud and errors.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and Operations, to ensure smooth operations and effective financial management.

ROLE SPECIFICATIONS

Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in finance from a recognized local or international university/college
• MBA/Master's Degree preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in financial operations
• Previous experience in the IT industry is preferred

Skills

• Knowledge of accounting standards, practices, and procedures.
• Experience with accounting software and systems.
• Knowledge of ageing analysis, cash/fund flow forecasting, and reporting
• Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, excellent Excel skills
