Job Purpose:

The Assistant Manager - Virtualization & Cloud leverages modern IT infrastructure to enhance efficiency and agility. He/ She manages and optimizes virtual environments and cloud services, which are crucial in supporting scalable, resilient, and flexible IT operations. The Assistant Manager – Virtualization & Cloud ensures that IT operations remain efficient, secure, and scalable while staying aligned with technological advancements and evolving market demands.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supervises the setup, configuration, and maintenance of virtualization infrastructure, ensures scalability, security, and optimized performance of hypervisors (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) and virtual resources.
  • Allocates and provisions virtual resources (CPU, memory, storage, network bandwidth) to meet workload demands, optimizing resource utilization and monitoring usage for efficiency.
  • Develops and implements backup and disaster recovery strategies for virtual environments, ensuring data integrity and business continuity through regular backups, testing, and replication solutions.
  • Monitors and optimizes the performance of virtual infrastructure and VMs (on-prem and cloud), addresses bottlenecks and improves responsiveness through performance tuning and analysis of system logs.
  • Manages the deployment of patches, updates, and security fixes for virtualization software, and guarantees system stability, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Automates repetitive tasks and streamlines processes through scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible), and improves overall efficiency in virtualization management.
  • Provides second-level support to end users and IT staff, troubleshoots and resolves issues related to virtualized environments.
  • Creates documentation and conducts training sessions to educate users on best practices for virtualization resources and security.
  • Plans for future growth, analyzes usage trends, forecasts resource needs, recommends hardware upgrades, capacity expansion, and recommends cloud migration solutions.
  • Collaborates with IT teams, developers, vendors, and stakeholders to implement and support virtualization solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Designs, manages, and optimizes cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking resources, to meet organizational needs.
  • Implements scalable and efficient cloud solutions, managing identity, access controls, and conducting regular vulnerability audits.
  • Engages in Windows and Linux security management, user and group management, system updates, software installation, network configuration, and scripting automation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Professional certifications in an IT field (e.g. Network+, cloud computing, Microsoft Azure, virtual networks) is desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in dealing with cloud services and virtualization technologies with a Bank.
  • Knowledge of cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), deployment models, and major cloud providers (preferably OCI, etc.).
  • Experience with OFFICE 365 implementation.
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
  • Familiarity with access control models and network security.
  • Knowledge and experience of major network and enterprise IT monitoring tools, also highly desirable scripting skills using common scripting languages.
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
  • Basic project management and service management skills with certification in industry frameworks like ITIL etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
