Portfolio Manager - Equities and Strategic Investments

Job Title: Portfolio Manager - Equities and Strategic Investments

Department: Proprietary Investments

Reporting to: Head of Equity and Strategic Investments

Main Role (Overall accountability):

Be a key member of equities and strategic investments team of Proprietary Investments Department and manage the portfolio including purchases and exits of securities and execution of suitable strategies to optimize the risk-return of the portfolio to the Bank.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Origination and execution of all transactions and ongoing management of equities and strategic investments portfolio.
  • Monitor the performance of the equities and strategic investments portfolio regularly and execute appropriate strategies to improve its performance.
  • Support the business development activities including origination of new deals (acquisition and exits).
  • Act as a key point of contact for all existing and potential clients of the business and develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Interact with regulators (such as CBO, CMA, MSM), as needed, and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements as well as internal policies.
  • Ensure timely circulation of updates of the business to the IC and Board of Directors.
  • Provide regular updates of the business to the supervisors.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to team members and support team members as appropriate.

Personnel Specifications:

  • Omani Nationality
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent qualifications.
  • Minimum experience of 4 years in investment portfolio management with a proven track record of performance.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Comfortable working in a challenging environment and under tight deadlines and ability to execute portfolio strategies with limited supervision.
  • Initiative and ability to generate ideas and carry the same forward.
  • Strong team player.
