Job Title: Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer (Omani National)

Experience: Minimum of 14 years, with expertise in substations, power generation, or distribution systems. This role focuses on enhancing asset reliability through advanced condition monitoring and predictive maintenance strategies.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support electrical asset reliability management by providing technical expertise for high and low voltage systems, including transformers, switchgear, motors, UPS, VFDs, soft starters, and explosion-proof equipment.
  • Monitor KPIs such as MTBF and MTTR to assess system reliability.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues to ensure system stability.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Guide on installation and commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Develop reliability improvement plans and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Conduct RCM studies, RCA, FMEA, and apply reliability engineering principles.
  • Perform remaining life assessments and develop condition monitoring techniques like thermal imaging, partial discharge testing, MCSA, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, insulation resistance testing, TTR testing, and circuit breaker testing.
  • Analyze condition monitoring data, maintain databases, and generate reliability reports.
  • Implement predictive maintenance using analytics and machine learning.
  • Perform power system analysis and manage protection coordination.
  • Assess electrical network performance using indices like SAIFI, SAIDI, and CAIDI.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards and update maintenance procedures.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support project development from a reliability perspective.
  • Manage reliability projects, prepare proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, share industry knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
  • Fluent in English; Arabic - Native
  • 12+ years in similar roles, specifically in substations, power generation, or distribution
  • Proficiency in condition monitoring techniques and monitoring systems
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of relevant standards and troubleshooting processes
  • Electrical certifications such as CEM and CEP
