Job Description

You will maintain effective communication with the Shift Leader at all times and complete activities on the preventive maintenance schedule as specified in hotel plans, following all safety procedures. You will be responsible for looking after all tools supplied by the hotel in a professional manner, maintaining and depositing them after shifts, and suggesting cost-saving ideas when possible, not limited to the Engineering Department. Your main focus will be maintaining the hotel's swimming pools.

Job Description For General Technician

  1. Respond to and attend to guest repair requests.
  2. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing their needs.
  3. Understand and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
  4. Possess detailed knowledge of RO plants, generators, boilers, fire pumps, and fire panels.
  5. Communicate effectively with different types of people to understand their needs and provide assistance.
  6. Check for new maintenance requests from the message box and update remarks upon completion.
  7. Update the maintenance work order form for the message box.
  8. Interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units.
  9. Focus on details, speed, and accuracy in tasks.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
  11. Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
  12. Read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
  13. Perform maintenance activities in guest rooms and public areas, including plumbing, electrical repairs, and cosmetic fixes.
  14. Program TVs and perform general housekeeping and inventory duties related to engineering.
  15. Test, troubleshoot, and repair various equipment.
  16. Maintain and lubricate tools and equipment.
  17. Operate independently to analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement them with available resources.
  18. Be available for emergencies to protect guests and staff and preserve building systems.
  19. Monitor fire alarm and life safety systems, handling emergencies as needed.
  20. Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical parts breakdowns.
  21. Follow oral and written instructions.
  22. Manage maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies.
  23. Maintain a professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect company assets.
  24. Ensure the safety and efficiency of hotel facilities and equipment.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  26. Share knowledge and train staff members.
  27. Possess electronic knowledge related to maintenance systems.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, including operational, safety, and process instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Six months to two years of related experience, with knowledge of water/wastewater treatment methods and practices.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and operate machines and equipment independently, meeting quality standards.
  • Proficiency in operating pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, and other related equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for process control.
  • Ability to work in a team and assume additional responsibilities.
  • Willingness to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Completion of Employee Orientation, Safety, OSHA, and Quality Training.
  • HZWOPER Level I and II certification within 6 months if required.
  • Cross-training as feasible.
  • Proficiency in PPE use, including respirators and confined space equipment.
  • Forklift certification if required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing 25%, walking 75%, potentially covering five miles per shift.
  • Use of hands, reaching, talking, and hearing.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or entering confined spaces.
  • Use of ladders or stairs as needed.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds).
  • Visual abilities for detailed observation and detection of non-conformance.
