Team Leader, Hydrocarbon Accounting

Job purpose
Lead the Hydrocarbon accounting processes and assigned team at OQ8, under the Manager Hydrocarbon Accounting scope. Act as the leader for optimizing the accounting, measurement, and allocation of hydrocarbon products. Support the optimization of Fuel & Loss control at OQ8, including Mass Balance and Engineer analysis by examining external and internal studies and information related to Mass Balance. Continually monitor, initiate, and implement recommendations to Loss control/operations/technical teams to improve the mass balance system. Aim to support OQ8 development plans for operational process optimization, ensuring data accuracy, and leading a team of professionals to achieve departmental objectives.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Engineering Hydrocarbon Accounting Process

• Lead and coordinate the engineering hydrocarbon accounting process, including measurement, allocation, and reconciliation of hydrocarbon volumes across production facilities.

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of hydrocarbon data according to industry standards and internal procedures.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to validate and optimize measurement systems and instrumentation.

• Execute hydrocarbon accounting activities and reporting system.

• Prepare internal and external daily and monthly management production reports, ensuring quality and timeliness.

• Prepare ad hoc reports related to hydrocarbon deliveries and inventory.

• Analyze daily production, highlight losses, and identify optimization opportunities.

• Manage procurement & sales contracts related to hydrocarbon accounting activities.

• Reconcile accounts and prepare reports on refined product exports.

• Conduct month and year-end closing activities.

• Maintain databases and prepare reports for deferment analysis, plant production losses, and related statistics.

• Provide training and development opportunities for team members and assess their progress.

• Analyze refinery forecast & actual margin.

• Report PvA analysis for Mass balance & Margin.

• Map and plan to achieve targeted KPIs for the function and organization.
Engineer Refinery Mass Balance Process

• Oversee the refinery mass balance process to track and reconcile mass flow and material balances.

• Recommend actions and manage mass balance data for resource optimization.

• Ensure high-quality data entry into reconciliation tools & ERP.

• Work with refinery engineers to analyze process data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.

• Develop and maintain mass balance models to optimize refinery performance.

• Ensure timely reconciliation in cooperation with SPDC and DPR.

• Set up and maintain short-term production forecasts.

• Maintain and coordinate the 90-day integrated operations plan.

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all reports.
Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance processes.

• Implement best practices for data accuracy and efficiency.

• Collaborate with teams on process optimization initiatives.
Education requirements
Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, or related field.
Language requirements
Excellent proficiency in written, read, and spoken English.
Background and experience

• 10+ years of relevant experience

• Proven experience (5+ years) in hydrocarbon accounting, refinery operations, or process engineering within the oil and gas industry, preferably in a multinational environment.

• Strong understanding of engineering principles, mass balance calculations, and hydrocarbon measurement techniques.

• Knowledge of refinery processes, instrumentation, and control systems.

• Experience with process optimization, data analysis, and reporting.

• Technical expertise in Hydrocarbon Accounting and Mass Balance.

• Experience in Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical industries.

• Familiarity with software like Sigmafine, AspenTech Hydrocarbon Oil Accounting.

• Knowledge of refinery operations and products.

• Relevant technical experience in Mass Balance.
