Your role and responsibilities
Accountable for the local management of all project execution activities in the area of responsibility. Ensures operations are executed in accordance with company procedures, relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards, contract specifications, quality standards, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements, financial targets, and schedule commitments. Coordinates and oversees team development and standardized process development to continually improve the effectiveness of Project Execution teams.

The role is contributing to Process Automation Business Area, based in Muscat; Oman. The work model for the role is onsite.

You will mainly be accountable for:
  1. Leading the project team, establishing the project execution approach, and overseeing project hand-over, execution planning, and monitoring and control activities for internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
  2. Providing performance feedback for the resources allocated to projects.
  3. Leading the implementation of continuous improvements for the project execution strategy for local or regional Project Operations under the guidance of the Global/Regional Project Operations Manager.
  4. Ensuring that the portfolio of projects is managed consistently based on best practices and ABB policies, controls, and SOX requirements.
  5. Leading, supporting and overseeing the local Project Execution team, ensuring that ABB policies are consistently followed.
  6. Developing, customizing, and continuously improving standard processes and work instructions by adopting ABB and external best practices.
  7. Ensuring that lessons learned from project execution are analyzed and conclusions are incorporated in continuous improvement actions.
  8. Supporting local Sales and Tendering through early involvement in tenders.
  9. Participating in the budgeting process jointly with the local Division/Product Group Manager and Controller.
  10. Participating in sales and operations planning with other members of the local Division/Product Group Management team and takes actions to close potential gaps in project execution capability and capacity.
  11. Ensuring that the project follows execution best practices and ABB policies.
  12. Monitoring and controlling project progress effectively and efficient resource utilization.
  13. Monitoring and controlling project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow.
  14. Identifying, qualifying, quantifying, and managing project risks and ensures all opportunities are identified and pursued.
  15. Capturing, analyzing, and sharing lessons learned throughout the project.
  16. Driving the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out, and acknowledgment by the customer, all in accordance with the contract.
  17. Supervising project execution and performance management through project reviews with the management and Project Managers to ensure contract fulfillment and approving any project deviations.
  18. Taking an active role in resolving escalated issues, especially those raised by the customer.
  19. Ensuring the portfolio of projects follows good methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that projects are closed as per contracts entered with customers.
  20. Ensuring that projects consistently apply contract and claims management methodologies in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements and in interaction and close collaboration with respective functions.
  21. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  22. Serving as an escalation point for individual and systemic project management issues within the Project Execution team.
  23. Driving, validating, and supporting that appropriate HSE measures are taken and implemented in the respective Project Operations functions and all project activities, in accordance with regulations and requirements.
  24. Ensuring that an HSE culture is implemented and maintained in the organization.
  25. Acting as flag bearer for HSE and ensures consistent HSE performance within the area of responsibility.
  26. Ensuring that the area of responsibility is structured to fit the business model, sufficiently staffed with skilled resources, and directed appropriately.
  27. Guiding, motivating, and developing direct and indirect reports within HR policies.
  28. Overseeing competency assessments and ensures that the project staff is licensed and certified appropriately.
  29. Leading and coaching the Project Execution teams to achieve defined business objectives.
  30. Driving efficiency and effectiveness and improves cash flow, revenue, and profitability.
  31. Defining project organization in coordination with the Project Manager by assigning project team members to projects based on competencies, customers, and availability.
  32. Developing project execution capacity and capability in line with ABB policies, directives, instructions, and guidelines.
  33. Driving any required project recovery efforts and turnaround of troubled projects.
  34. Providing support to less experienced Project Managers with the recovery of troubled projects by assessing the situation and making specific recommendations based on experience.
  35. Monitoring the project portfolio to ensure early identification of deteriorating execution performance.
  36. Preventing further deterioration by providing timely support to troubled projects, identifying root causes of problems, giving guidance, coaching, and where necessary, direct support to troubled projects.
  37. Taking accountability for the overall On Time Delivery (OTD) of the projects in the local organization.
  38. Responsible for creating and implementing a local document control system in line with global/regional requirements.
