We are hiring a Jira Software Engineer to manage the Atlassian stack at Canonical, including administration, configuration, automation, and integration. We emphasize high engineering quality, rigorous documentation, and effective stakeholder management. Our goal is to enable Canonical teams to leverage Jira effectively, work on challenging tasks, and facilitate data-driven decisions.

The role is within the Commercial Systems team, which integrates business systems to ensure reliable data flows and automate processes across the company. We manage systems like Jira, Salesforce, NetSuite, Greenhouse, GSuite, among others, using tools such as Python, Go, Airbyte, and Temporal. Our work supports data-driven decisions and operational efficiency.

Location: This role can be based anywhere in EMEA time zones.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage the entire Atlassian Cloud ecosystem at Canonical
  2. Design, document, and implement processes and automation in Jira
  3. Design, document, and implement integrations between Jira and data warehouses
  4. Create dashboards to enable data-driven decisions
  5. Develop scalable learning resources
  6. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and support teams globally
  7. Own critical escalations and resolve them promptly
Candidate Profile
  • Strong academic background from high school and university
  • Experience with Jira administration and ecosystem
  • Understanding of Jira usage patterns across departments
  • Proficiency in Python development
  • Professional English communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability
  • Ability to work remotely with diverse teams, stay motivated and organized
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year, up to two weeks each time
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of process architecture
  • Experience with complex cross-project automation
