Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

Provide specialist technical expertise and support to Projects and Operation on external corrosion mitigation especially cathodic protection (CP) materials, CP design/engineering, installation, commissioning, and CP maintenance & operation.

Education & Experience

  1. A degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering /Corrosion Science/Engineering or equivalent.
  2. AMPP CP level-4 certified & minimum AMPP CIP level-2 certified.
  3. A minimum of 7 years' experience in Cathodic Protection and external corrosion management in the oil and gas industry, responsibilities include corrosion protection/coating applications.
  4. Meet minimum requirement of Technical Authority of TA3 in corrosion control.
  5. A thorough knowledge of pipeline external corrosion mechanisms, coating, cathodic protection, and external corrosion protection, with appropriate knowledge of remedial practices.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Provide corrosion and materials expertise to support Projects and Operation regarding external corrosion protection.
  2. Delivery of business plan for assets.
  3. Manage all related external corrosion monitoring and mitigation activities, including cathodic protection and coating for surface and subsurface facilities including pipelines, tanks, vessel and well casing.
  4. Provide expert recommendations and design, construct, operate and maintain external corrosion control systems.
  5. Carry out quality control on matters pertaining to external pipeline corrosion, surface facilities and well casing.
  6. Support to prepare periodic monthly, quarterly and annual corrosion control reports showing corrosion status and trends of the pipelines, tanks, vessels and well casing system.
  7. Develop, update and CP monitoring/management program for each pipeline, tank, vessel and well casing.
  8. Assist in condition and risk assessment evaluations and studies.
  9. Provide support to asset to assess accordingly integrity of equipments and facilities.
  10. Carry out Quality audit and review on facilities and corrosion management to address the required actions to mitigate detrimental effects and avoid any impact to HSE.
  11. Increase awareness on corrosion, CP, coating and support new graduates on their development.
  12. Carry out RCA for external corrosion, CP and Coating related failures.
