Job Purpose:

Manager- DBA is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing Bank's database systems to ensure that they operate smoothly, perform optimally, and meet the Bank's strategic objectives. This involves working collaboratively with other IT teams and business stakeholders, mentoring and training other IT staff, and managing vendor relationships and contracts.

Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Designing and implementing database structures and architectures that meet the Bank's requirements and long-term goals.
  • Planning and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies to ensure that the Bank's critical data is protected and can be quickly recovered in case of a disaster or system failure.
  • Evaluating and recommending new technologies and tools to improve database performance, scalability, and security.
  • Collaborating with other IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure that database systems support the Bank's strategic objectives.

Operational

  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the Bank's database systems by monitoring performance, diagnosing and resolving issues, and tuning database performance.
  • Implementing and enforcing database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
  • Creating and maintaining database backups and archives to prevent data loss and ensure data recoverability.
  • Managing database storage, capacity planning, and resource allocation to ensure that database systems are performing optimally and are able to meet the Bank's needs.

People

  • Training and mentoring staff on database technologies and best practices to ensure that they have the necessary skills to support the Bank's database systems.
  • Collaborating with application developers and other IT teams to ensure that database systems are integrated with other IT systems and applications.
  • Communicating with business stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements and to ensure that database systems are aligned with the Bank's business goals.
  • Managing vendor relationships and contracts for database-related products and services.

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in a relevant field.

Professional Certificates

  • Mandatory certifications of Oracle Certified Professional
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and MongoDB Certified DBA are highly desirable.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience working as a DBA in a bank or financial institution.

Skills & Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle19c and above including RAC, Portioning, Encryption and good understanding of SQL Server, SAP-IQ, MongoDB, and others is necessary.
  • Expert skills working in operating systems environment such as Linux/Unix and Windows servers on VMware and Physical environments.
  • Cluster management and failover methods with thorough understanding of Storage management
  • Communication, teamwork, problem solving, and time management are essential skills required for the position.
  • Also should be able to work well in a team environment, communicate effectively with different stakeholders, and manage time efficiently
  • Continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest industry trend is must for the position.
