Medical Laboratory Specialist RoleA senior leadership position responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of an advanced diagnostic laboratory service.This role is critical in ensuring efficient workflows, continuous service delivery, and adherence to quality and safety standards across all clinical laboratory units.

About This Job:

  • To lead and manage daily operations across all laboratory sections: Biochemistry, Hematology, Molecular Pathology, Histopathology, Microbiology, Cytogenetics, and Blood Bank.
  • To approve and manage shift schedules to ensure fairness, compliance, and uninterrupted 24/7 service.
  • To coordinate staff rotation and task assignments to optimize productivity and workflow consistency.
  • To prepare and monitor the annual laboratory budget; coordinate with finance and procurement teams.
  • To supervise monthly inventory reviews and manage annual inventory planning, tenders, and evaluation of quotations.
  • To liaise with referral laboratories for outsourced testing and site visits; ensure CAP and ISO compliance.
  • To collaborate with the Quality Manager to uphold and improve quality management systems and audit readiness.
  • To lead operational emergency responses, ensuring fast and effective decision-making.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years' relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong command of laboratory operations, emergency management, shift and resource planning.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory control, budgeting, and vendor coordination.
  • Sound knowledge of quality systems and accreditation standards (e.g., ISO 15189, CAP).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Salary Information:

Salary will be based upon experience and qualification, using Oman Medical Bylaw.
