Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Customer Engineering to lead our technical customer engagement efforts. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep technical expertise and a passion for customer success.

About the Role:

This is a leadership position that requires a proven track record of building and leading high-performing technical teams. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface confidently and effectively with customers and stakeholders. Additionally, they will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to resolving complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and scale the Customer Engineering team, ensuring best-in-class technical support and customer success.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for key customer accounts, building strong relationships and ensuring high satisfaction.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and troubleshooting support to customers during integration and deployment.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, and R&D to represent the voice of the customer and influence product direction.
  • Define and implement processes and tools that streamline customer onboarding and support.
  • Build and manage a high-performing, geographically distributed team of applications and systems engineers.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in applications engineering, systems engineering, or other customer-facing technical roles.
  • Prior experience with LiDAR, sensor technologies, or embedded systems is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in building and leading high-performing technical teams, preferably in a startup or remote-office environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface confidently and effectively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Experience working with international customers and managing support across global time zones.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with automotive, robotics, or industrial automation industries.
  • Familiarity with customer success metrics and CRM tools.
  • Multilingual abilities or international work experience is a plus.
