Protection Engineer Role

We're seeking a skilled Protection Engineer to join our team in Muscat, Oman. As a key member of our global team, you'll work on developing standardized solutions using protection, automation, and control products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct witness tests with customers for protection panels, LIBBP, HIBBP, DFR, PMU, AVR, etc.
  • Prepare commissioning procedures for various customers (SAT/FAT protocols, method statements, etc.).
  • Prepare relay configuration files for projects/relay standardization work.
  • Provide training to customers on protection and automation products.
  • Investigate faults and perform root cause analysis.
  • Offer feedback on product issues and approvals.
  • Report to the Local Team Head for Protection Commissioning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Electronics & Communication/Electronics) degree.
  • Working experience in multicultural environments, commissioning protection and automation products/systems preferably with 6-8 years of experience.
  • Ready to work on remote sites.
  • Essential to have an Oman driving license or a driving license from a country that Oman recognizes for conversion.
  • Experience working in transmission grid stations, oil, and gas industries preferred.
  • Previous working experience in Oman with DCRP, OETC & PDO approval is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with Siemens protection and automation products such as SIP4/SIP5/Reyrolle/Power Quality/Disturbance recorder/PMU/ARC fault protection, etc.
  • Proficiency in DIGSI 4, 5, and Reyrolle software and applications.
  • Technical product knowledge, relay communication software, IEC61850 communication, GOOSE applications, preparation of control logics in BCPU/BCU, creation of scd/icd/cid files, knowledge of other communication protocols.
  • Thorough knowledge of OMICRON test equipment with Test Universe TU4.20 & higher with all test modules such as distance/advanced distance/line differential/transformer differential/state sequencer/ramping/OCC files/trans play/annunciator, etc.
  • Knowledge of competitor products is an added advantage.
  • Initiative-taking and collaboration skills with effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Business-level English language skills.
